A Response to a Rebellious Revolutionary

During the French Revolution, a group of revolutionaries stormed the Bastille in Paris. One revolutionist climbed atop the Cathedral of Notre Dame, broke off the cross mounted on the top of it, casted it to the ground, after which the cross shattered into pieces. This man declared to the onloookers, “we are determined to tear down everything that reminds you of God.” An onlooker in the crowd shouted back, “then you will have to tear down the stars from heaven.”

A classic example of human rebellion against divine authority.
