Learners Are Listeners

If you want to learn, listen. Or at least listen first then talk. I know that dialogue is key in the Socratic method but one must listen to even know what the subject matter is and to formulate opinions and theories relating to it. Regardless of your teacher’s ability to convey the subject, listen, but especially listen if they are good teachers. Soak up the information, process it and then talk about it.

The same goes for writing: if you want to become a better writer, read. Write, of course, but do not fail to be a good reader.

Sometimes we just talk too much. Listen. Learn. And then talk, and learn some more.
